DHG Tourism Consulting was proud to be a member of a 4-person team who in May 2013 won a Provincial Government RFP to study and develop a sustainable business model for the Historic Town of Barkerville located in the Cariboo Region of British Columbia. Barkerville is a designated Heritage Site in British Columbia and a designated National Historic Site of Canada. There are two additional sites within Barkerville that are designated National Historic Sites of Canada; the Cariboo Wagon Road and the Chee Kung Tong building.
The goal of our team was to conduct an analysis of comparable sites in North America by studying their business and operational models and aspects and applying best practices to create new model options and opportunities to ultimately develop and increase Barkerville’s self-sufficiency.
The team was as follows:
Mark Pezarro – President, EarthVoice Strategies (Team Leader)
Heather Tremain – Principal, Urban Fabric Group
Ranjit Gill – Executive Director, Central BC Railway & Forestry Museum
Joseph Dubois – President, DHG Tourism Consulting (Dubois Hospitality Group)
